The essence of meditation is Awareness. Let me explain.
Notice that right now your attention is on this video, you are listening to me, you are looking at the screen. Notice this. Whenever, you notice something you can be sure your attention is on it, and wherever your attention is, your Awareness is also.
Good. Let’s practice noticing other things, notice the feeling in your feet, where they touch the ground, you can feel that right? So, in that moment your attention and Awareness went to your feet.
Now, notice your breathing, you are breathing right? Again, when you put your attention on your breathing, your Awareness goes there.
Again the essence of meditation is Awareness, meditation is really a monitoring of your attention and where your Awareness is. It’s a practice. There’s no place to get to, you are simply noticing where Awareness is, we do this by directing your attention.
Let’s practice…
You can do this anytime, you don’t need to be sitting, you can actually do this anytime in your life. In fact, 12 years ago, my spiritual teacher actually stopped me to formally sitting to meditate, as the best meditation is to make your like a meditation, eg be Aware of your Awareness.
The benefits of this practice are increased Awareness - with this Awareness comes more peace, joy and clarity. With increased Awareness, comes increased presence, being in the moment or now, there is less mind present, allowing you to experience the moment fully, bringing more joy and peace.
